Jessie Bird: Soulful, reflective country-folk with rich vocals, warm roots, and honest storytelling
Jessie Bird is a country folk singer-songwriter from Camrose, Alberta. For her, music has always been more than a pastime. It has been a lifeline that carried her through heartbreak, addiction, and major life transitions. It has also helped her build deeper connections with herself and the people around her. For years she found comfort in singing other people’s songs. Stepping into her own songwriting has felt like finally allowing her true voice to be heard.
Her music is rooted in storytelling and shaped by the traditions of country and folk. Jessie draws inspiration from artists like Emmylou Harris, Caroline Spence, and Rose Cousins. Like their work, her songs explore themes of navigating pain, searching for healing, and discovering small pockets of beauty and grace in the midst of struggle.
Jessie released her debut EP The Way Love Goes on August 29, 2025. The project was recorded at New Sky Studio and produced by Kyle Mosiuk, with the support of Jordan Leden and Braden Gates who helped bring the songs to life. These tracks weave together moments of vulnerability, resilience, and hope. Jessie explains, “At the heart of The Way Love Goes is the belief that even in the hardest places, there is a thread of love that carries us forward.”
The songs on this record are deeply personal, yet they speak to something universal. Jessie shares, “My hope is that listeners will find pieces of their own story in the lyrics, and that the music offers comfort and connection in times of both sorrow and joy.”
Over the past year, Jessie has been grateful for opportunities to share her music across Alberta and beyond. She has been featured on CBC’s Provincial Playlist, performed with the School of Song at the 2024 Edmonton Folk Festival, and appeared at events such as Beaumont Music Fest, Willows Music Festival, and East Coulee Springfest. She also took part in the CFCW Heartstrings and Honkytonks show and has performed with the Tommy Charles Band on stages including Country Thunder in Saskatchewan and the BVJ Kick Off Party in Camrose. In 2026, Jessie was selected as the winner of the Alberta Dreams Song Search, chosen from 15 Alberta artists, further affirming the heart and resonance of her songwriting. In recognition of her dedication to roots-based songwriting and storytelling, Jessie is an official nominee for Roots Artist of the Year with Country Music Alberta for 2026. These moments have been both humbling and affirming, reminding her of the power of music to bring people together.
As Jessie continues to share her debut EP with the world, she is excited to keep offering songs that are honest, tender, and rooted in the spirit of storytelling. The Way Love Goes reached number 17 on CKUA Radio’s Top 30 even before its official release week, a sign of the connection her music is beginning to build. Music has given her courage, and she hopes this record will offer that same courage to anyone who needs it.
